    Ministry of Agriculture organises rubber tapping contests to improve quality and productivity

    The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has organised a rubber tapping contest to improve the quality and productivity of rubber, as well as to encourage rubber tapping workers to improve their work skills.

    At the opening ceremony of the contest on December 16, 2024, at the Choup rubber plantation in Tbong Khmum district, Tbong Khmum province, Khun Kakada, Acting Director General of the Rubber Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said that the candidates who participated in the exam are from 34 companies and 5 communities of family rubber from Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Tbong Khmum, Kratie, Mondulkiri, Ratanakiri, and Stung Treng provinces, a total of more than 70 people.

    Candidates participating in the contest expressed their happiness that the ministry organised this programme, which encouraged them to continue to strengthen their ability to extract rubber better, and they hope that the ministry will continue to organise this programme in subsequent years.

    Prak David, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, said that this contest is an opportunity to strengthen the capacity and skills of workers and demonstrate the ministry’s attention to the rubber sub-sector to attract the public’s interest in finding work in the rubber sub-sector, maintain the sustainability of the rubber plantation workforce, maintain the health of rubber trees, ensure long and accurate harvest periods, obtain high yields, and give hope to workers to work harder and perform better and have better economic efficiency.

    The Minister said that this programme also demonstrated the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood and was an opportunity for workers from various companies and communities to meet, get to know each other, share experiences, and build relationships in a context where the national society is peaceful and secure throughout the country.
