The Association for Rubber Development of Cambodia (ARDC) has officially taken over the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Rubber Business Council (ARBC) for the term 2023 – 2024. The handover ceremony was held during the 28th Meeting of Technical Committee and Contract Matters (TCCM) on 25th February 2023 at Carlton Singapore Hotel. This is such an honor but also a great responsibility. We have launched the preparation work in all aspects early and are now ready to make the best of this responsibility.
Over the past 17 years of establishment and development, ARBC today has become a dynamically developing regional organization of Southeast Asian countries, with cooperative activities in almost all rubber industry fields. ARBC which comprises the rubber trade associations of Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar which is members of the ARBC account for around 71% of the world’s total NR production.
The Council has made significant contributions to the consolidation and promotion of stability and cooperation in Southeast Asia and the world rubber community. Simultaneously, it has been monitoring the progress and development of the natural rubber industry in member countries to foster closer coordination and goodwill amongst member organizations. Finally, it has also built reliable partnerships with all major rubber organizations and played a critical role in regional and international cooperation frameworks. Taking over the Chairmanship of ARBC in such a unique context, ARDC strongly believes in our mutual support and cooperation to maintain the contribution of our beloved rubber industry to the respective countries’ economic growth, apart from being resilient and surviving for future years to come.
Although there are still many difficulties and challenges in the short term, I believe that the rubber community will continue to step steadily and work side-by-side to overcome the immediate obstacles toward the industry’s sustainable growth. As the Chairman of the Council, I wish all member associations the best of luck in maintaining the success and development of sustaining the rubber industry.
