Germany’s car market is expected to grow by 2% to 2.9 million vehicles in 2026, according to the country’s automotive industry association VDA.
The forecast, released Monday, shows electric vehicle sales are projected to jump 17% to 979,000 units next year, providing a bright spot amid broader economic weakness that is constraining overall market growth.
Despite challenges in the wider economy, Germany is set to maintain its position as the world’s second-largest electric car producer in 2026, the VDA said.
