Natural rubber production in January 2020 increased 13.3 per cent
Malaysia's natural rubber production increased 13.3 per cent in January 2020 to 66,232 tonnes as compared to the previous month. Meanwhile comparison year on year showed a decrease of 13.0 per cent as compared to the same month in the previous year.
Exports of Malaysia's natural rubber amounted 45,827 tonnes, decreased by 9.3 per cent against 50,516 tonnes in December 2019. The primary natural rubber export destination is People’s Republic of China with a share of 44.3 per cent from total exports in January 2020 followed by Germany (13.4%), Finland (5.1%), U.S.A (4.1%) and Italy (3.3%).
Stocks of natural rubber in January 2020 was 288,586 tonnes as compared to 245,002 tonnes in December 2019, an increase of 17.8 per cent.
Average price of Latex Concentrate was 459.60 sen per kilogramme in January 2020, increased by 1.0 per cent as compared to December 2019. Meanwhile the average price of Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 (S.M.R. 20) decreased by 0.9 per cent to 590.38 sen per kilogramme for the same period.
Total domestic consumption of natural rubber was 42,015 tonnes, a decrease of 22.9 per cent against 54,477 tonnes as reported in December 2019. Rubber gloves industry dominates the use of natural rubber with 31,686 tonnes or 75.4 per cent of the total domestic consumption.
