SEOUL, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- South Korean automakers' global car sale fell last month due to lower overseas demand, caused by the COVID-19 resurgence in Europe, industry data showed Monday.
Domestic carmakers, including Hyundai, Kia, GM Korea, Renault Samsung and Ssangyong, sold 727,124 vehicles at home and abroad in October, down 3.7 percent from the same month of last year.
Local automotive sale inched up 0.4 percent from over the year to 135,495 units in October, but overseas car sale declined 4.6 percent to 591,629 units.
Hyundai Motor, the country's biggest carmaker, sold a total of 385,947 vehicles in October, down 4.2 percent from a year earlier. Hyundai's local car sale gained 1.2 percent, but its overseas sale reduced 5.2 percent in the month.
Domestic automotive sale by Kia Motors, affiliated with Hyundai, rose 1.8 percent from a year earlier to 48,009 units, and its overseas car sale expanded 7.0 percent to 217,705 vehicles.
Global car sale by GM Korea gained 4.1 percent to 31,391 units, while Renault Samsung's global auto sale tumbled 49.2 percent to 7,533 vehicles.
Ssangyong Motor sold 7,612 vehicles in the domestic market in October, down 5.4 percent from a year earlier. The carmaker's auto export jumped 20.2 percent to 2,585 units.
