    Production of natural rubber increased 9.0 per cent in February 2021

    Production of natural rubber increased 9.0 per cent in February 2021 to 49,840 tonnes as compared to 45,735 tonnes in the previous month. On the contrary, year on year comparison showed a decrease of 0.1 per cent.

    Exports of Malaysia's natural rubber amounted 54,632 tonnes in February 2021, an increase of 13.5 per cent as against 48,125 tonnes in January 2021. P.R. China remains as the main destination for natural rubber exports with share 40.5 per cent of total exports in February 2021 followed by Belgium (12.6%), Germany (8.4%), Finland (3.9%) and U.S.A (2.7%).

    Rubber gloves was the main export item with an export value of RM5.8 billion in February 2021, an increase of 3.9 per cent as compared to January 2021 (RM5.6 billion). U.S.A was led as the highest importer of rubber gloves followed by Germany and China.

    The stocks of natural rubber increased in February 2021 to 286,117 tonnes as compared to 280,841 tonnes in January 2021 with an increase of 1.9 per cent.

    Average price of Latex Concentrate recorded an increase of 587.91 sen per kilogramme as compared to January 2021 (550.26 sen per kilogramme). Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 (S.M.R. 20) also increased to 672.68 sen per kilogramme as compared to 628.58 sen per kilogramme for the same period.

    Total domestic consumption for natural rubber was 44,697 tonnes, a decrease of 5.1 per cent as compared to the previous month. The use of natural rubber in rubber glove manufacturing industry  continues to lead with the use of 34,764 tonnes or 77.8 per cent of the total domestic consumption in February 2021.
