    Monthly Rubber Statistics Malaysia, March 2021

    Production of natural rubber decreased 27.6 per cent in March 2021 to 36,068 tonnes as compared to 49,840 tonnes in the previous month. On the contrary, year on year comparison showed an increase of 4.5 per cent.

    Exports of Malaysia's natural rubber amounted 58,852 tonnes in March 2021, an increase of 7.7 per cent as against 54,632 tonnes in February 2021. P.R. China remains as the main destination for natural rubber exports with a share of 51.8 per cent from total exports in March 2021 followed by Germany (6.4%), Finland (5.3%), U.S.A (4.8%) and Brazil (2.3%).

    Rubber gloves was the main export item with an export value of RM6.4 billion in March 2021, an increase of 9.4 per cent as compared to February 2021 (RM5.8 billion). U.S.A was the highest importer of rubber gloves followed by Germany and China.

    The stocks of natural rubber decreased 1.6 per cent in March 2021 to 281,672 tonnes as compared to 286,117 tonnes in February 2021.

    The average price for Latex Concentrate and Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 (S.M.R. 20) for March 2021 was the highest recorded in First Quarter of this year. Average price of Latex Concentrate recorded an increase of 680.20 sen per kilogramme as compared to February 2021 (587.91 sen per kilogramme). S.M.R. 20 also showed an increase from 672.68 sen per kilogramme to 707.89 sen per kilogramme for the same period.

    Total domestic consumption for natural rubber was 49,718 tonnes, an increase of 11.2 per cent as compared to the previous month. The use of natural rubber in rubber glove manufacturing industry continues to lead with 37,435 tonnes or 75.3 per cent of the total domestic consumption in March 2021.
