A rubber manufacturing factory operating along Jalan Kejuruteraan 4, Industrial Area here near, was destroyed in a fire today.
Fire and Rescue Department personnel found the factory, which operated from two lots in the Jalan Genuang Industrial area, 90 per cent engulfed in flames upon their arrival.
Its operation commander Mazuki Ismail said after receiving the 12.18am distress call, 31 firefighters including two Emergency Medical Rescue officers from their stations at Segamat and Labis was despatched to the scene.
Despite their six-hour effort, the fighters were unable to salvage the building from the flames, as the combustible products further fuelled the fire.
It is learnt the factory established in 1995 manufactured high quality industrial bulk bags used for storing chemicals and fertilisers.
Marzuki said the factory was almost completely destroyed and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire and damages incurred are under investigation.
